CSATS designs, develops, and implements many professional development programs and workshops for K-16 education to promote the integration of science and engineering practices into the classroom environment.  We partner with science and engineering researchers on the broader impacts components of research grant proposals.

Predicting the Future: Using Radar Data for Analyzing Weather

A unique teacher professional development for middle and high school teachers.

Teachers will engage in activities that illustrate how radar data are used to better understand atmospheric circulations near the Earth’s surface that can influence severe weather.

Authentic Plant Pollinator Landscape Research for Educators (APPL-RED) Workshop

A unique teacher professional development experience for middle and high school teachers.

Teachers will have the opportunity to participate and collaborate with leading researchers in the area of pollinator and plant-pollinator landscape research, CSATS science educators, and educators from across Pennsylvania.

Arctic Plant Phenology Learning through Engaged Science - APPLES on the West Coast

A unique teacher professional development experience for California middle and high school teachers.

Teachers will have the opportunity to engage and collaborate with leading polar research scientists and science educators. You will spend 3 days at the University of California, Davis learning about the study of phenology – the seasonal dynamics of plants and animals ‐ in the Arctic to understand ecological impacts of climate change.
